This Water Challenge Can Change Your Skin

Are you drinking enough water? If you had to think hard for that answer, the answer is probably no. Everyone knows they should be drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, but why? There are the obvious benefits of fewer headaches, better digestion, and energy-boosting, but there’s more. Turns out drinking water benefits your skin in more ways than one!

Your skin is an organ that needs water to thrive and protect you the way it should. When you’ve got dry, dehydrated skin it won’t get all the benefits from your skincare routine that it should which means you’re wasting time and money. All the moisturizers in the world can’t give you what proper hydration can so it’s important to keep up with it. When you’re keeping up with your water intake, your skin will be ready to absorb all of those creams and serums you’ve been using, making that skincare routine work so much better!

As you stay on top of your water intake, don’t be surprised if you start seeing your skin glow! Hydrated skin isn’t as prone to acne and wrinkling, which means you’ll be able to rock those no makeup days more often. Water naturally increases the elasticity of your skin making it not only the cheapest but one of the most effective ways to keep yourself looking young. As your skin detoxes and purges all of the ick, it can seem as if your skin is getting worse, but fear not! This is just the water doing its job and pushing out things that don’t belong.

So, what happens to your skin when you don’t get enough water? Your body retains water when it senses that it’s not getting enough which in turn will give your face a bloated look rather than a soft and supple appearance. Dark under-eye circles may start to develop causing you to look tired and aging your face instantly which is the last thing anyone wants. Even your pout will suffer if you aren’t getting enough water! Chapped lips have been linked to lack of water intake and not even your favorite chapstick can plump it back up. Getting enough water throughout the day is an easy way to take care of your skin and lips, so it should be a no-brainer!

Here at Plump Room, we like to enhance what you already have, and the best way to do that is when we’re working with healthy and well-hydrated skin. We’re all about anti-aging tips and tricks and water is our number one secret weapon when it comes to looking youthful!

So maybe you’ve tried staying on top of your water consumption before, but you just can’t seem to stick to it. Try experimenting with different ways to flavor your 8 glasses a day. Reach for some fresh fruits like lemon, crush some raspberries or add a couple of cucumber slices to give you some extra refreshment throughout the day. At the end of the day, if you haven’t quite reached your quota for the day, fix yourself a “nojito” made with sparkling water with dinner if you’re wanting something fun to serve with your meal.

Now, are you ready for a challenge?

You’ve got two weeks to turn around your bad water habits and turn them into good ones. 8 glasses a day is a great place to start, but there are other things to take into consideration. Things like weight and activity level can mean you need more water to hydrate properly. If you’re not quite sure what your body needs, here’s a calculator to help you determine just how much water you need.

If you’re looking for a great way to track your water intake, check out the app Plant Nanny. Not only does it do a great job tracking, but it’s super cute too! So, what about accountability? The challenge is super easy and doing it with a friend, family member or even coworker can hold you accountable to stay on top of it. How do we know? We tried it ourselves, of course! Not only did our skin clear up and brighten, but we had some extra pep in our step because we were getting more restful sleep! Besides, a little friendly competition never hurts anyone, so why not go head to head with a friend or two?

Now it’s your turn! We would love to hear how you’re feeling after you complete the challenge, and hopefully, a lifelong change will have been made, too!

Good luck!!
