If you’re anything like us, you wish Botox lasted longer. Unfortunately, science hasn’t come far enough to get us those prolonged effects. Now you’re left with the question of how to get the most from your tox in the 3 to 4 months it lasts. Thankfully, we have some tips and tricks to help you get the most from your ‘tox!
Stay On Top Of Your Appointments
This one is a given, but stay on top of your appointments! When you start slacking on keeping up with your Botox and allowing it to fade, it’s harder to maintain your wrinkle-free skin. There’s a reason you’re encouraged to rebook your next appointment when you’re checking out, it’s so you can stay on track! Things come up in life and that’s okay, appointments are easy to rearrange but try to stick as close to your three or four-month mark as you can.
Mind Your Sun Exposure
Everyone loves to bask in the sun every once in a while, but there is a right and a wrong way to get that glamorous glow. When you set foot outside of your home without SPF on, you’re setting yourself up for skin damage. It may seem like no big deal at the time, but all that sun exposure adds up and causes wrinkles to etch across your skin. Dermatologists recommend at least SPF 30 but the higher the better. You can even work it into your makeup routine by opting for a tinted SPF moisturizer. Our personal favorite is the Alastin Hydra-Tint.
Skip The Sauna
Chicago winters are no joke and a few minutes in the sauna can seem like the perfect fix, right? Not quite. There’s a reason we tell you to avoid excessive sweating following your botox appointment. It’s because we don’t want you to sweat your money out! After 24 to 48 hours, you’re able to go back to indulging in some sauna time, but only in moderation. ‘Tox seems to even last longer in the winter months as you’re not passively sweating every time you step outside.
Heavy Workouts In Moderation
Physical fitness is a major part of many people’s lives, but it’s also something that can change the way Botox works for you. Heavy workouts are a no-no for the first 24-48 hours post-treatment for the same reason we mentioned above. If heavy workouts are your thing, just be aware that you may have to visit your injector a little more often!
Put Anti-Aging Skincare To Use
It took us a while before we were confident enough in a skincare line to bring it into Plump Room. We’ve tried it all but one brand blows us away every time, Alastin! It’s a science-backed medical-grade skincare line that’s proven to give you results. Keeping up with your Botox will do a lot for your skin, but to get lasting effects, you’ve got to put in some work at home. Through the combined usage of retinol, serums, and moisturizer, you’ll be aging backward and those appointments for Botox may even become less expensive!
Get Serious About Hydration
You’ve been hearing for years from just about everyone about how important proper hydration is for a multitude of reasons, but did you know that it also improves your skin? That’s right! By keeping up with your water and electrolytes intake, you’ll be setting yourself up for success. Not only will you be feeling much better, but your skin will be able to push out any gunk underneath the surface as well as brighten and correct any discoloration under your eyes.
Choose Your Injector Wisely
Not all injectors are going to be a good match for you! When in the market for a new injector, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions and speak up when you’re unsure of something. Your injector’s job is to help you get optimal results without compromising your natural look as well as doing everything they can to give you the tools to make your ‘tox last longer. By having an injector who cares about the overall result as well as educating you, you’ll be able to walk out of your appointment feeling confident. If ever you feel like you may be questioning something, you can reach out to them for answers no matter how large or small the concern is.
As much as we love to see your beautiful selves here at Plump Room, we know that life gets busy. By using these simple tips and tricks to get the most from your ‘tox, we should be seeing you no more than 4 times a year for your Botox treatment.
